Supply Chain Risks Analysis on a Domestic Tool Manufacturer Based in the City of Puebla, Mexico

Resumen

As risk management has taken more importance in the supply chain role, many authors have nowadays focused in the risk impact mitigation to improve quality and competitiveness within the organizations. This paper is focused on the risk analysis in the materials/purchasing area in a tool manufacturer in the city of Puebla, Mexico. Risks in the studied company had never been analyzed; and along with a focus group of four people, have created a methodology to capture the most important risk found in the Materials department by sorting them so the organization can implement a contingency plan or a solving problem methodology to mitigate the risk or eliminate it. The scope of this work is to only suggest the risks to take care of, by implementing an FMEA and asses them with an AHP matrix. This process will reach to a risk management prioritization, using qualitative and quantitative tools.
